GTA, Ayat settle ‘Guda’ video copyright issues

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and Ghanaian musician, Kirani Ayat have settled recent copyright issue that ensued between the two parties.

Few weeks ago, the musician raised concerns after he found that excerpts of his ‘Guda’ music video had been used in a promotional tourism video by the Ghana Tourism Authority.

The ‘Guda’ hitmaker took to social media to demand action against the copyright infringement, amidst blame games.

The Ghana Tourism Authority had indicated that the video was acquired and used rightfully Ayat would not budge.

A joint press statement issued by Ghana Tourism Authority and Ayat Maqwam, popularly known as Kirani Ayat, on 31st October 2022 has revealed that the two parties have arrived at a settlement on the issue.

According to GTA, the visuals have been used extensively since 2019 for the production of various contents promoting tourism to the country.

“We are pleased to announce that the parties have reached an amicable agreement in settlement.

“Moving forward, Ayat and GTA will collaborate on a number of projects aimed at showcasing Ghana, our beautiful landscapes, and exciting talents to the world,” the statement noted.
