Ghana and Zambia have breathed new life into their bilateral relations with the revitalisation of the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC), setting the stage for deeper collaboration across a wide range of priority sectors.
The renewed framework is designed to be structured and results-oriented, covering trade and investment, energy, tourism, mining, agriculture, education, science and technology, youth development, and defence cooperation. Officials from both countries hailed the move as a significant step towards strengthening ties and unlocking opportunities for mutual growth.
As part of the revitalised PJCC, the two nations signed 10 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to guide their cooperation. Among the most notable is the agreement to allow visa-free travel for all categories of passport holders between Ghana and Zambia. This landmark decision is expected to boost people-to-people exchanges, enhance business opportunities, and advance the broader goal of free movement across the African continent.
Leaders emphasised that the agreements reflect a shared commitment to regional integration and sustainable development. By removing barriers and fostering collaboration in critical sectors, Ghana and Zambia aim to set an example of how African countries can work together to achieve prosperity and unity.
