On behalf of Government and His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GIDA VE TARIM University in Turkey, marking a significant step towards advancing agricultural education and training for Ghanaian students.
The collaboration establishes a new scholarship program that will provide Ghanaian students with invaluable opportunities to pursue academic and professional training in agriculture. GIDA VE TARIM University, a globally recognized institution in agricultural studies, will offer scholarships across a range of agriculture-related programs, with a strong focus on capacity building and skills development.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Hon. Opoku emphasized that the agreement reflects Government’s commitment to investing in human capital and strengthening the agro-industrial sector. “This partnership will equip Ghanaian students with advanced agricultural knowledge and practices, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the growth of our economy,” he noted.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture will facilitate the education and training of beneficiaries, ensuring that the skills acquired abroad are applied locally to enhance productivity and innovation. Officials say the initiative will serve as a major boost to Ghana’s agro-industrial development, positioning the sector as a driver of economic transformation.
The MoU underscores Ghana’s determination to harness international partnerships for national development, while creating pathways for young professionals to lead in modern agricultural practices.
