Ghana Records 36 New Mpox Cases; National Tally Hits 657

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 36 new cases of Mpox, bringing the country’s cumulative case count to 657 as of September 28, 2025.

Health authorities say the latest figures reflect a steady rise in infections across several regions, underscoring the need for heightened vigilance and adherence to preventive measures.

Mpox, a viral disease, spreads mainly through close contact with an infected person, including direct skin-to-skin contact, body fluids, or contaminated materials. Symptoms typically include fever, headache, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, and skin rashes.

The GHS has urged the public to maintain good personal hygiene, wash hands regularly with soap and water, and avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of the disease.

“Protecting yourself and others requires simple but consistent practices. Good hygiene and early reporting of symptoms remain our strongest tools in containing the spread,” the Service advised.

The Service further encouraged individuals who develop symptoms to report immediately to the nearest health facility for prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Ghana’s health authorities have assured the public that surveillance and response systems remain active nationwide, with contact tracing and case management protocols fully in place.
