Ghana have been assigned to Pot 4 for the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage draw, scheduled to take place in Washington DC on December 5.
The Black Stars share Pot 4 with Jordan, Cabo Verde, Curaçao, Haiti, New Zealand, four UEFA play-off winners, and two qualifiers from the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.
This placement reflects Ghana’s ranking among the lowest-seeded African nations to secure a spot in the expanded 48-team competition.
Other African teams are positioned higher: Morocco and Senegal are in Pot 2, while Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, and South Africa are placed in Pot 3.
According to the draw rules, Ghana are expected to face a top-tier side from Pot 1—such as Spain, Argentina, or England—alongside a Pot 2 team like Croatia, Japan, or long-time rivals Uruguay, depending on how the draw unfolds. Importantly, no group will feature more than one African representative.
Ghana booked their ticket to the World Cup after topping Group I with 25 points, finishing ahead of Mali, Madagascar, Chad, the Central African Republic, and Comoros.
The Black Stars will learn their group-stage opponents when the draw is conducted on December 5.
