The Government of Ghana has conferred one of its highest privileges on five distinguished citizens whose work continues to project the nation’s image on the global stage.
At the launch of the 2025 Diaspora Summit in Accra today, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced that, acting under the authority vested in the Foreign Minister by NLCD 155, the following eminent Ghanaians have been awarded Diplomatic Passports:
- Wodemaya – celebrated YouTuber and digital storyteller championing African narratives.
- Lady Dentaa Amoateng – founder of the GUBA Awards and tireless advocate for Ghanaian excellence in the diaspora.
- Rocky Dawuni – Grammy-nominated reggae musician and humanitarian.
- Anita Erskine – award-winning broadcaster, entrepreneur, and advocate for women’s empowerment.
- Ibrahim Mahama – internationally acclaimed contemporary artist, noted for his monumental installations (distinct from the businessman and brother of former President Mahama).
Hon. Ablakwa lauded the honourees for “bringing Ghana renown through their craft, service, and dedication,” adding that the gesture is both a recognition of their achievements and an encouragement for others to follow their example.
The 2025 Diaspora Summit, which brings together Ghanaians from across the globe, is expected to deepen engagement between the homeland and its diaspora, fostering investment, cultural exchange, and national pride.
The conferment of Diplomatic Passports grants the recipients certain courtesies and privileges when travelling abroad, symbolising the nation’s trust in them as cultural and developmental ambassadors.
