Gold Board Suspends NK Benark Enterprise Licence, Orders Closure of All Shops

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has with immediate effect suspended the licence of NK Benark Enterprise, a licensed gold buyer (Tier 2), and directed the closure of all its trading outlets across the country.

In a statement issued by the Compliance Directorate, GoldBod explained that the decision follows the company’s complicity in several gold-related offences which have culminated in the arrest of the sole proprietor, Mr. Bernard Nkrumah. He is currently facing prosecution before the High Court.

The directive further cautions all licensed traders, miners, and the general public to desist from transacting or engaging in any form of gold dealings with NK Benark Enterprise forthwith.

“GoldBod remains committed to enforcing the laws and regulations that govern the gold trading sector in the spirit of accountability and transparency,” the notice emphasised.

The suspension of NK Benark Enterprise comes at a time when authorities are stepping up efforts to sanitise the gold trading industry, which has in recent times been fraught with reports of illegal activities undermining the sector’s credibility.

GoldBod assured stakeholders of its resolve to ensure fairness while cracking down on non-compliant operators.
