The Commanding Officer of the French Offshore Patrol Vessel Commandant Bouan, Lieutenant Commander Damian Tocquer, has paid a courtesy call on the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, as part of a four-day official visit to Ghana.
The visit, which commenced on Monday, is aimed at deepening bilateral naval cooperation between France and Ghana. It will feature a series of professional exchange activities, including demonstrations of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operations and discussions on maritime defence best practices. These engagements are designed to enhance operational coordination and interoperability between the two navies.
Lieutenant Commander Tocquer commended the Ghana Navy for its pivotal role in safeguarding maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea, describing it as a dependable partner. He reaffirmed France’s commitment to strengthening defence collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces, noting that shared efforts are vital to addressing evolving security challenges in the region.
Commodore Asiedu-Larbi welcomed the French delegation, emphasizing the importance of the visit as a platform for professional engagement and mutual learning. He expressed appreciation to France for sustaining the partnership and assured continued cooperation. He underscored the strong defence relations between the two nations, which foster mutual understanding and operational alignment to advance maritime security and regional stability.
Lieutenant Commander Tocquer was accompanied by the French Defence Attaché, Colonel Grégoire Madelin, and Sub Lieutenant Geroud Ducellier. The delegation’s engagements in Ghana are expected to further consolidate the longstanding France–Ghana naval partnership.
