Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, has joined counterparts from across Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific at the 121st Session of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Council of Ministers in Brussels, Belgium. The two‑day meeting, held from July 15–16, 2026, brings together ministers and senior representatives to deliberate on strategic policy and institutional matters shaping the Organisation’s future.
Hon. Quayson is representing Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, underscoring the country’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation within the OACPS framework.
The 121st Session is focusing on the implementation of decisions from the 11th OACPS Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, in March 2026. Key agenda items include consolidating international reforms, ensuring financial sustainability, and operationalising the Samoa Agreement — the Organisation’s new guiding framework for cooperation with international partners.
Discussions also cover issues of mutual interest to Member States, ranging from sustainable development and inclusive economic growth to trade and investment, peace and security, climate action, and institutional cooperation.
The Deputy Minister’s participation highlights Ghana’s active role in advancing the objectives of the OACPS. Officials reaffirmed that Ghana will continue to work closely with Member States and partners to promote sustainable development, strengthen peace and security, and ensure effective implementation of the Samoa Agreement and the resolutions of the Malabo Summit.
