The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has apprehended five individuals and freed 57 Nigerian nationals from a human trafficking and internet fraud syndicate operating at Adom Estates, Community 25, in the Greater Accra Region.
The raid, carried out on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, was spearheaded by the CID’s Operations Unit after actionable intelligence was gathered on the group’s illegal activities.

Police named the suspects as Joel Nosa, Collins Rotimi, Shadrack Lulu, Austin Amahuaro, and John Uloko, who are believed to have managed a criminal enterprise that enticed young Nigerians into Ghana with deceptive promises of jobs and educational prospects.

In a statement issued by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the CID, investigators revealed that the victims aged between 18 and 26 years were compelled to engage in cyber fraud schemes upon their arrival.
“Upon arrival, the victims, aged between 18 and 26 years, were coerced into engaging in online romance scams and other heinous activities,” the statement said.
Items seized during the operation included 77 laptops, 38 mobile phones, two cars, three television sets, and several internet-enabled gadgets suspected to have been used in the fraudulent activities.

The rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention and psychological support, while the suspects remain in custody to assist with ongoing investigations. The confiscated equipment has been secured for forensic examination.
The Police Service has meanwhile advised the public, particularly the youth, to exercise caution when responding to job, education, or travel opportunities advertised on social media and other unverified platforms.
“The Police reiterate their determination to combat human trafficking, cybercrime, and related offences, and urge anyone with credible information on such activities to report to the nearest police station,” the statement added.
