The Baptist Medical Centre has pledged its strongest commitment yet to partner with the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) in delivering critical healthcare support to patients battling chronic non-communicable diseases.
Hospital management emphasized that with modest assistance from GMTF — particularly in retooling and advanced training for medical staff — the facility would be better positioned to fully support the Fund’s life-saving interventions.
As the main referral hospital in the North-East Region, the Baptist Medical Centre plays a vital role in healthcare delivery, serving not only residents of the region but also patients from neighboring regions and countries bordering Ghana to the north. Despite operating with just five medical doctors, the hospital attends to an average of 100,000 Out-Patient Department (OPD) cases and more than 20,000 admissions annually, underscoring both its importance and the immense strain on its limited resources.
A delegation from GMTF visited the facility as part of its ongoing needs assessment tour of hospitals in the newly created regions. The visit focused on evaluating capacity and exploring practical partnership arrangements aimed at expanding access to specialist care for vulnerable populations.
The collaboration signals hope for improved healthcare delivery in the North-East Region, aligning with GMTF’s mission to bring hope and critical support to communities across Ghana.
