GES Reinstates PTAs in all Pre-Tertiary Schools Nationwide

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reinstated Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all public pre-tertiary schools across the country, effective immediately.

This follows a policy directive by President John Dramani Mahama aimed at boosting stakeholder involvement and improving educational outcomes nationwide.

In a statement released on Thursday, July 17, GES emphasized that the renewed PTA structure is designed to foster stronger collaboration between parents, teachers, and communities, ultimately enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in schools.

“All Heads of Public Senior High, Technical, and STEM schools are hereby directed to begin implementation without delay,” the statement read.

GES explained that the return of PTAs will offer parents a more active role in school governance, promote transparency, and enhance accountability in the management of educational institutions.

The Service also announced that detailed guidelines outlining the structure, roles, and financial responsibilities of PTAs will be issued in the coming weeks to ensure uniformity and effective operations across all schools.

GES is urging all stakeholders, including parents, teachers, school heads, and community leaders to support the initiative, which forms part of broader educational reforms aimed at inclusive governance and community participation in schools.
