“Commitment Shaped Into Competence” — Deputy Health Minister Visits Goaso Training College

 As part of her working tour of the Ahafo Region, Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has visited the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Goaso to interact with students and assess their welfare and training conditions.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Ayensu-Danquah stressed that health training institutions form the bedrock of Ghana’s healthcare system. “These institutions are where commitment is shaped into competence, and where the next generation of nurses and midwives are prepared to serve with care, skill, discipline, and professionalism,” she said.

The Deputy Minister highlighted government’s commitment to upgrading health training institutions into Bachelor of Science degree-awarding bodies. She explained that the reform is intended to raise academic standards, enhance professional progression, and align training with modern healthcare requirements.

She disclosed that approximately 42 health training colleges have successfully completed their assessments and are awaiting accreditation to commence degree programmes. According to her, this milestone represents a significant step toward strengthening Ghana’s healthcare workforce.

The visit provided an opportunity for direct engagement with students, who expressed appreciation for the Deputy Minister’s presence and encouragement. Many described the interaction as inspiring and impactful, reinforcing their determination to pursue excellence in their chosen profession.
