The World Bank Group, led by its Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer, Mr. Paschal Donohoe, has paid a courtesy call on the First Deputy Speaker and leadership of Parliament to strengthen collaboration on Ghana’s development agenda.
The meeting brought together heads of Parliamentary Committees benefiting from the capacity-building initiative financed by the World Bank and the FCDO trust fund. Discussions focused on deepening institutional support and enhancing the effectiveness of Parliament in overseeing national development programmes.
Mr. Donohoe underscored the World Bank Group’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s governance structures through knowledge-sharing and technical assistance. He highlighted the importance of aligning parliamentary oversight with the country’s broader development priorities, noting that strong institutions remain central to sustainable growth.
The First Deputy Speaker and parliamentary leadership expressed appreciation for the partnership and reaffirmed Parliament’s readiness to work closely with the World Bank Group to ensure that ongoing and future initiatives deliver tangible benefits to citizens.
This engagement marks another step in fostering dialogue between Ghana’s legislature and international development partners, aimed at strengthening accountability, transparency, and inclusive policymaking.
