MP Abdul-Khaliq Calls for Urgent Action on Emergency Care Deficit

The Member of Parliament for Nanton, Hon. Dr. Mohammed Sherif Abdul-Khaliq, has raised alarm over Ghana’s growing emergency care deficit, urging government to take immediate steps to strengthen the country’s emergency healthcare system.

Making a statement on the floor of Parliament, he highlighted critical challenges including inadequate ambulance services, poorly equipped emergency units, and a shortage of trained personnel, all of which continue to hinder effective emergency response nationwide.

Hon. Abdul-Khaliq called for increased funding, improved infrastructure, and the expansion of ambulance services to help save lives and ensure timely medical intervention in emergencies.

Commenting on the statement, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings encouraged Members and staff of the Parliamentary Service to adopt healthier lifestyles by exercising regularly. She noted that physical activity helps regulate blood circulation and reduces the risk of high blood pressure, underscoring the link between preventive health practices and overall wellbeing.

The discussion in Parliament reflects growing concern over Ghana’s emergency healthcare capacity and the need for both systemic reforms and individual responsibility in safeguarding public health.
