The Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, The Honourable Dr. Terrance Michael Drew, has arrived in Ghana for a four-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
Dr. Drew’s visit, which runs from March 3 to March 7, coincides with Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebrations. He is expected to join dignitaries and citizens at the national parade on Friday, March 6, marking the country’s historic milestone.
The Prime Minister’s itinerary began with a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, followed by bilateral discussions and an official luncheon at the Presidency. His schedule also includes visits to key cultural and historical landmarks such as the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and the Cape Coast Castle. In addition, Dr. Drew will pay a courtesy call on Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Omanhene of the Oguaa Traditional Area.
The visit underscores the growing partnership between Ghana and Saint Kitts and Nevis, with both countries committed to advancing South-South cooperation. Areas of collaboration include education, health, trade, investment, and technology, with exchange programs already being explored to deepen ties.
The statement announcing the visit was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu (MP), Spokesperson to the President and Minister of Government Communications, who emphasized the importance of the engagement in fostering mutual growth and development.
Dr. Drew’s presence at Ghana’s Independence Day celebration highlights the enduring bonds between the Caribbean and Africa, and signals a renewed commitment to shared prosperity through cultural and economic collaboration.
