The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the constitution of a committee to investigate widespread allegations of inducement and vote buying during the Ayawaso East Parliamentary Primaries held on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Hon. Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party condemned the reported incidents as an affront to its values and principles, stressing that such practices undermine the integrity of its internal electoral processes.
The three-member committee, chaired by Mr. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, was initially composed of Hon. Mahama Ayariga and lawyer Emefa Fugah. However, Hon. Ayariga has since stepped down, with former MP and Minister Hon. Inusah Fuseini appointed as his replacement. The committee is expected to submit its findings by Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The NDC emphasized that the investigation will not only determine culpability but also recommend sanctions where necessary. It further indicated that future violations could attract more drastic measures, including the cancellation of elections.
Party executives assured members and supporters of their commitment to transparency, ethical conduct, and reforms aimed at decisively ending inducement and vote buying in internal contests. They urged calm as the committee carries out its mandate.
