The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is in the United States to participate in the 2025 Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, an event organized by the World Food Prize Foundation in Des Moines, Iowa.
The annual dialogue brings together global leaders, policymakers, scientists, and stakeholders in agriculture to discuss solutions for achieving sustainable food systems and addressing global hunger.
During the forum, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang will deliver a keynote address focusing on Ghana’s strides in food security, sustainable agriculture, and the empowerment of women and youth in agribusiness. Her presentation will underscore Ghana’s ongoing commitment to building a resilient agricultural sector capable of meeting both national and global food demands.
The Vice President is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with international development partners and take part in a roundtable discussion on innovation and agricultural transformation. These engagements aim to strengthen Ghana’s collaborations with global stakeholders in promoting modern, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural practices.
A statement issued by Ama Pratt, Press Secretary and Spokesperson at the Office of the Vice President, highlighted that the Vice President’s participation “demonstrates Ghana’s commitment to building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems that contribute to global food security.”
The Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue is widely regarded as the “premier conference on global agriculture,” fostering cross-sector collaboration toward ending hunger and ensuring a sustainable future for food production.
