Vice President H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has held a high-level meeting with Jacob’s Foundation, an organisation dedicated to advancing foundational education in Ghana. The session was attended by the Chair, Board, and Management of the foundation, alongside Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abasinaab Apaak.

During the meeting, Jacob’s Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s education sector, particularly through the SCALE (System Change Architecture for Learning Excellence) programme. Launched in mid-2025 in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Global Partnership for Education, SCALE is an $80 million multi-stakeholder initiative designed to reach 2 million children, train teachers, and implement differentiated learning in 15,000 schools. The programme will also expand the reach and impact of the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP).

Vice President Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the importance of regularly reviewing initiatives to ensure decisions are well-informed and aligned with Ghana’s long-term development goals. She noted that foundational learning remains a critical pillar of national progress, stressing that quality must be matched with relevance to prepare young people to take charge of the country’s future.

She further underscored the value of partnerships, highlighting the need for them to be properly structured within a long-term planning framework to guarantee enduring benefits for all parties.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and explore their full potential,” the Vice President stated, adding that investments in education must deliver results that match expectations and produce meaningful impact. She called for sustained interest in classroom practices and in the role of teachers and facilitators who shape the learning process.
The meeting reinforced Ghana’s commitment to strengthening foundational education and ensuring that investments in the sector translate into measurable outcomes for children across the country.
