Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America, Victor Emmanuel Smith, has clarified uncertainties surrounding recent visa restrictions announced by the US Government, assuring that B1-B2 visas remain unaffected.
According to the US State Department, only immigrant visas have been paused under the new directive. Non-immigrant visas, including the widely used B1-B2 category for business and tourism, will continue to be issued.
Ambassador Smith explained that the clarification was necessary following public concern and speculation about the scope of the restrictions. “Ghanaians should note that the suspension applies strictly to immigrant visas. Business and tourist visas are not affected, and applications in those categories will proceed as usual,” he emphasized.
The Ambassador urged calm and encouraged applicants to rely on official channels for accurate information. He reiterated Ghana’s commitment to maintaining strong diplomatic relations with the United States while working to address any outstanding issues that led to the restrictions.
The announcement is expected to ease anxiety among prospective travelers, particularly students, business executives, and tourists who depend on B1-B2 visas for entry into the United States.
