UDS Student Sentenced to Death in Fatal Love Triangle Case

A student from the University for Development Studies (UDS), Salifu Nurudeen, has received a death sentence following his conviction for the killing of fellow student Wumpini Mohammed Zakiu, stemming from a romantic rivalry.

The heartbreaking event took place in September of the previous year, after Wumpini reportedly began a relationship with Nurudeen’s former partner.

On September 25, Wumpini was found dead with several stab injuries, and his mobile phone was noted as missing. A police investigation traced the stolen device to Nurudeen’s room, where it was discovered concealed beneath his bed. He was later apprehended and formally charged with murder.

The court ruled against him, delivering a capital punishment verdict that has stunned the university population. The case has sparked renewed dialogue around emotional health among students and highlighted the pressing need for campus-based support systems focused on conflict management and psychological well-being.
