The Ghana Police Service has rescued a four-day-old baby boy stolen from the Mamprobi Polyclinic and arrested a female suspect in connection with the incident.
According to the Regional Public Affairs Unit, the suspect, identified as Latifa Salifu, was apprehended on February 18, 2026, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital following intensive investigations. She was found in possession of the newborn but failed to provide medical records to substantiate her claim of having delivered the child.

Police confirmed that the mother positively identified her child through a distinctive birthmark on his left leg. The infant has been referred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further medical care.
As part of enhanced security measures, the Accra Regional Police Command has deployed 24-hour protection at the Mamprobi Polyclinic to safeguard patients, staff, and visitors.
The suspect remains in custody assisting investigations and is expected to be arraigned in court. Police have urged the public to remain vigilant, particularly in healthcare facilities, and encouraged hospital authorities to strictly regulate access to maternity and postnatal wards.
