Parliament Takes Up 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill for Debate

The 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill, 2025, has been read for the second time in Parliament, paving the way for Members of Parliament to debate its provisions.

At the commencement of sitting today, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, moved the motion for the second reading of the Bill. The legislation seeks to establish a statutory authority to oversee the implementation of Ghana’s proposed 24-hour economy initiative.

The second reading marks a critical stage in the parliamentary process, allowing MPs to scrutinize the principles and objectives of the Bill before it proceeds to the consideration stage. Debate is expected to focus on the potential impact of the 24-hour economy on job creation, productivity, and national competitiveness.
