The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old Nigerian national alleged to have murdered a woman and her daughter in Nigeria before fleeing to Ghana to evade authorities.
The suspect, identified in the police statement as Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, was arrested following the interception of a viral video circulating online. The video alleged that the suspect had abducted and killed a woman who worked with Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to the police, Fejemirokum was wanted by Nigerian authorities and reportedly fled to Ghana after the incident. He is said to have been hiding at a friend’s residence in Akwatia, a suburb of Akyem Wenchi.
Upon receiving intelligence on his whereabouts, the Eastern South Regional Police Command launched an operation that led to his swift arrest at the hideout.
The suspect is currently in Ghanaian police custody while efforts are underway to facilitate his extradition to Nigeria for prosecution.
Police authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious movements within their communities, emphasizing that timely information is crucial in preventing crime. They also assured residents of intensified operations to combat criminal activity in the region.
