The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced that it has paid GH₵1.46 billion in claims to credentialed health facilities across the country so far in 2026.
The Authority confirmed that the most recent disbursements, made on July 29 and August 3, amounted to GH₵256.5 million. These payments form part of efforts to ensure timely settlement of claims and strengthen the healthcare delivery system.
Chief Executive of the NHIA, Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, said prompt claims payment is essential to sustaining confidence in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). “Timely claims payment strengthens the healthcare delivery system, improves patient outcomes, and reinforces public confidence in the NHIS,” he noted.
The NHIA emphasized that consistent settlement of claims is critical to improving service delivery at health facilities, ensuring patients receive uninterrupted care, and reinforcing public trust in the scheme.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability in managing resources, highlighting that the NHIS remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s healthcare financing system.
