Bank of Ghana Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Finance

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, has underscored the central bank’s commitment to building a fair and inclusive financial system that responds to the diverse needs of Ghanaians.

Speaking at the launch of the Non‑Interest Financial Advisory Council, Dr. Asiama emphasized that the success of financial initiatives would not be judged by the sheer number of products introduced, but by their soundness, usefulness, and ability to earn public confidence.

He explained that non‑interest finance is not “free finance,” but rather a complement to conventional banking, rooted in trade, leasing, partnerships, and asset‑backed transactions. According to him, the approach offers practical options for traders seeking stock, manufacturers needing equipment, and families looking for products consistent with their values.

“The Bank of Ghana is committed to a fair and inclusive financial system that responds to the different needs of Ghanaians,” Dr. Asiama stated, highlighting the institution’s resolve to broaden access to financial services while safeguarding stability.

The initiative, officials noted, is designed to expand participation in Ghana’s financial sector, ensuring that products are both trustworthy and aligned with the economic realities of citizens.
