The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), on Tuesday, 6th January 2026, received the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, His Excellency Christian Rogg, at his office in Accra.
The meeting centred on advancing Ghana–UK relations to a strategic partnership, with emphasis on economic growth, governance, and education.
Hon. Ablakwa outlined government’s ongoing efforts to stimulate economic development through targeted investments, industrialisation, and job creation. He highlighted measures aimed at strengthening fiscal discipline, reinforcing public institutions, and supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). He further underscored Ghana’s commitment to fostering regional stability as part of its broader foreign policy agenda.
His Excellency Rogg commended Ghana’s achievements in governance, economic management, and democratic reforms. He reaffirmed the UK’s readiness to deepen cooperation in education, skills development, and institutional capacity-building, noting that such collaboration would yield mutual benefits.
Both parties agreed that closer engagement between relevant institutions of the two countries would ensure effective implementation of agreed initiatives and further consolidate the longstanding relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
