Kennedy Agyapong Withdraws from NPP “Thank You” Tour After Violent Incident

Hon.Kennedy Agyapong has withdrawn from NPP “Thank You” tour following a violent incident that occurred during an event in Kumasi.

The tour, aimed at expressing gratitude to supporters, took a tragic turn when a student from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was stabbed multiple times during a confrontation at the Bantama Pentecost Church.

The victim, affiliated with Unity Hall (Conti) at KNUST, was reportedly attacked during a dispute over cash distributed at the event. The altercation escalated into violence, leaving the student seriously injured. He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care.

Kennedy Agyapong’s Response

Kennedy Agyapong expressed deep concern over the incident and announced his decision to step back from the tour. He cited security concerns and the need to protect his supporters as key reasons for his withdrawal. Agyapong also emphasized his commitment to fostering unity within the party and ensuring that such incidents do not overshadow the party’s efforts.

Investigations Underway

Authorities have launched an investigation into the stabbing, aiming to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible. The Ashanti Regional Minister and other officials have condemned the violence and called for justice for the victim.
