Ken Ofori-Atta Released from ICE Detention Following Court Order

 Former Ghanaian Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been released from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention after a judicial order on April 7, 2026. His legal representatives confirmed that he has since returned home to his family.

In a statement issued by Minkah-Premo, Osei-Bonsu, Bruce-Cathline & Partners, the law firm representing Mr. Ofori-Atta, the release was described as a vindication of his commitment to due process. “Mr. Ofori-Atta remains fully committed to use due process in defense of his rights as guaranteed under the constitution and laws of the United States,” the release noted.

The statement, signed by Justice Kusi-Minkah Premo Esq., solicitor for Mr. Ofori-Atta, expressed gratitude to God and to all who offered prayers and support during the period of detention.

Mr. Ofori-Atta’s detention by ICE had drawn significant public attention, with supporters and family members calling for his release. His legal team emphasized that he will continue to pursue his rights through lawful channels.
