The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, has officially received the newly appointed European Union Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Rune Skinnebach, at his office in Accra. The courtesy call marked a significant step in strengthening diplomatic ties between Ghana and the European Union.

During the meeting, Ambassador Skinnebach underscored the importance of maintaining Ghana’s peace and stability, describing them as critical pillars for sustainable development and international cooperation. He reiterated the EU’s unwavering commitment to supporting Ghana’s efforts in safeguarding national security and promoting socio-economic progress.
“Ghana has immense potential,” the Ambassador remarked. “As the new EU representative, I am determined to elevate our partnership and work closely with Ghana to nurture this potential while ensuring peace and stability across the subregion.”
Ambassador Skinnebach also expressed the EU’s interest in collaborating with Ghana to create a conducive environment for investment and development, particularly at the grassroots level.
In response, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak assured the Ambassador of Ghana’s readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation. He highlighted key areas for collaboration, including the digitization of the Ghana Prisons Service to improve inmate management and the advancement of conflict prevention initiatives through the National Peace Council.
The Minister took the opportunity to commend the outgoing EU Ambassador, H.E. Irchad Razaaly, for his dedicated service and contributions to Ghana-EU relations. He extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Skinnebach and wished him a fruitful tenure in Ghana.
The meeting concluded on a note of mutual respect and shared commitment to fostering peace, development, and prosperity for the people of Ghana.
