The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has deployed reinforcement teams and armoured vehicles to Nalerigu and surrounding communities in the North East Region following recent unrest in the area.
The deployment comes in response to the burning of two houses by some youth in the regional capital and threats to carry out further attacks. The move is aimed at restoring calm, protecting lives and property, and enforcing the curfew imposed on Nalerigu and its environs by the government.
According to a statement issued by the North East Regional Police Command, the reinforcement teams will also support local police efforts to intensify highway patrols and ensure the safety of commuters.
The Command assured residents that investigations into the attacks are ongoing and pledged that those responsible will be arrested and prosecuted.
“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” the statement emphasized.
The deployment underscores the Service’s resolve to respond swiftly to threats and maintain public confidence in its ability to protect communities across the country.
