GRA Interdicts Five Customs Officers Over Transit Cargo Breach

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers of its Customs Division pending the outcome of an internal investigation into alleged breaches of transit procedures.

The decision follows preliminary findings from an enforcement operation conducted on February 18, 2026, involving a consignment of transit cargo declared for onward movement to Niger. The operation revealed discrepancies in documentation and compliance with established protocols, prompting a detailed internal review.

According to the GRA, initial assessments indicate potential procedural lapses requiring further independent examination. The investigation will determine the extent of individual involvement and departures from Customs regulations. Additional officers may be invited to assist with the inquiry, and appropriate administrative action will be taken upon its conclusion.

In a statement, the Authority assured stakeholders and the public that the interdictions reflect its commitment to protecting national revenue, supporting local industry growth, and promoting overall economic development. It emphasized that all revenue collection and enforcement procedures will continue to be executed with the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.

The GRA reiterated its resolve to safeguard the integrity of Ghana’s revenue system and ensure strict adherence to customs protocols.
