GRA Engages Taxpayers on VAT Reforms

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has engaged taxpayers in Accra to explain recent reforms to the Value Added Tax (VAT) regime and address concerns about its implementation.

The session, held at the Airport View Hotel, brought together business owners, professionals, and other stakeholders to discuss the new VAT Act and its implications for compliance. Officials outlined key changes in the law and introduced transitional measures designed to ensure a smooth rollout.

Chairing the engagement was the Area Director for Accra West, Anna Attuah, who emphasized the importance of taxpayer education in strengthening Ghana’s revenue mobilization efforts. She noted that the reforms were aimed at improving efficiency and transparency in tax administration.

Resource persons at the event included Mr. Kingsley Konadu, Mr. Lawrence Hotsonyame, Esq., and Mr. David Quarcoopome, who provided technical explanations of the new provisions and responded to questions from participants.

Attendees welcomed the opportunity to seek clarification on compliance requirements and expressed appreciation for the GRA’s proactive approach in involving taxpayers in the reform process.

The engagement forms part of the Authority’s broader strategy to deepen collaboration with taxpayers and enhance voluntary compliance under Ghana’s evolving tax framework.
