Government Reaffirms Support for Complementary Education Agency

The Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has assured the leadership of the Complementary Education Agency of government’s continued support in strengthening its capacity to deliver inclusive education nationwide.

She gave the assurance during a meeting at her office with the Agency’s leadership, led by Hon. Daniel Kwasi Ashiamah, Acting Executive Director. The discussions centered on enhancing the Agency’s operations and addressing staffing shortages that have affected its ability to sustain and expand its impact.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang commended the Agency’s past achievements, noting in particular the remarkable progress made when learners covered nearly two years’ worth of the syllabus in just nine months through instruction in local languages. She stressed that the outcome underscores the importance of mother-tongue instruction in improving comprehension and learning outcomes.

The Vice President further highlighted the need to broaden skills development beyond formal classroom settings. She encouraged the Agency to explore partnerships with craftsmen and skilled professionals within communities, many of whom may be willing to volunteer their time and expertise to support learners.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed government’s appreciation for the Agency’s role in expanding access to education, especially for children who might otherwise be excluded. She reaffirmed government’s readiness to provide the necessary support to ensure that national development benefits all citizens.
