GNASSM Presents Report on GoldBod Pricing and Mining Reforms

The Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners (GNASSM) has submitted a comprehensive report to the Ghana Gold Board following nationwide engagements on the GoldBod pricing mechanism and ongoing mining sector reforms.

The report, which reflects input from miners and traditional authorities across mining districts, highlights strong stakeholder participation and growing support for responsible, licensed mining. It also underscores the active involvement of traditional leaders and an increasing willingness among miners to formalise their operations.

According to GNASSM, the engagements were designed to deepen understanding of regulatory reforms, clarify compliance requirements, and build confidence in GoldBod’s pricing and purchasing framework.

Among its key proposals, the report recommends a two percent discount and the introduction of a new licensing regime aimed at discouraging gold hoarding and addressing market distortions.

Reacting to the presentation, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, welcomed the findings and pledged the Board’s commitment to working closely with GNASSM and other stakeholders to implement the recommendations. He stressed that sustained engagement remains critical to advancing formalisation, traceability, and value retention in Ghana’s gold sector.
