Ghana and Ukraine have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, with a renewed focus on agricultural cooperation aimed at enhancing food security.
On Friday, April 10, 2026, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), met with Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, Mr. Denys Bashlyk, to take stock of progress made under an understanding between the two countries.
During the meeting, Honourable Ablakwa underscored Ghana’s readiness to provide a conducive business environment for investment, noting the country’s ambition to become an agrarian hub. He also conveyed his gratitude to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for granting him audience during his earlier visit to Ukraine, where negotiations secured the release of two Ghanaian Prisoners of War.
Mr. Bashlyk, for his part, outlined Ukraine’s interest in investing in Ghana’s agricultural value chain. He highlighted plans to establish joint research centres, promote technology transfer through collaboration with universities in both countries, and encourage private sector partnerships to strengthen bonds of friendship.
The discussions reflect a shared determination to build capacity, foster innovation, and ensure sustainable food security, while deepening the Ghana–Ukraine relationship across multiple sectors.
