Ghana Rescues 28 Nationals from Human Trafficking Network

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the successful rescue and repatriation of twenty-eight Ghanaian nationals, predominantly youth, who were victims of a human trafficking network in Côte d’Ivoire.

According to the official statement, the operation was carried out by Ghanaian security operatives in collaboration with officials from the Embassy of Ghana in Abidjan. The victims were safely returned to Ghana on May 10 and are currently assisting authorities with ongoing investigations.

The Government of Ghana expressed gratitude to Ivorian authorities for their effective cooperation and shared intelligence, which made the mission possible. Officials emphasized that dismantling such criminal networks remains a top priority, with efforts underway to bring the masterminds to justice.

The Ministry has urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant against fraudulent recruitment schemes that promise overseas job opportunities. Citizens are advised to verify any offers with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment Relations, or Ghana’s diplomatic missions abroad to avoid falling prey to traffickers.

“The welfare of all Ghanaians remains our utmost priority,” the release concluded, underscoring the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens both at home and abroad.
