The Ghana Gold Board will on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, formally sign a landmark gold refining agreement with Gold Coast Refinery, in a move aimed at strengthening Ghana’s gold value chain and boosting local refining capacity.
The ceremony, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Conference Room, 5th Floor of the Gold Board Head Office in Accra, will mark a significant step in advancing the country’s broader industrialisation agenda.
The Special Guest of Honour for the event will be the Minister for Finance, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson (MP).
Officials say the partnership represents a milestone in Ghana’s efforts to add value to its mineral resources, reduce dependence on external refining, and position the country as a competitive hub for gold processing in Africa.
By enhancing domestic refining capacity, the agreement is expected to create jobs, foster technology transfer, and strengthen Ghana’s role in the global gold market.
