Germany and Ghana have reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening border security, enhancing migration management, and promoting regional stability through a new package of operational support for the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
At a formal handover ceremony at GIS Headquarters in Accra, German Defence Attaché Holger Grossman presented resources valued at approximately GH¢1 million to the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Samuel Basintale Amadu. The package included a 16-seater Foton View CS2 bus, laptops, tablets, printers, protective helmets, and bulletproof vests.
The donation is expected to enhance mobility, operational readiness, and officer safety, particularly along Ghana’s northern frontier, where border management remains a critical priority.
Mr. Grossman emphasized that stronger borders mean safer communities, better-managed migration, and enhanced regional stability. He noted that Germany’s support reflects its role as a reliable partner in advancing secure and orderly migration systems that benefit Ghana and the wider subregion.
Comptroller-General Amadu expressed gratitude for the assistance, highlighting its practical impact in equipping immigration officers to safeguard the country’s entry points and uphold secure migration practices.
Germany and Ghana continue to build on a firm partnership rooted in cooperation, institutional strengthening, and shared responsibility. By investing in border security and migration management, both countries are working to deliver greater stability and opportunity across West Africa.
