Former President Nana Akufo‑Addo, accompanied by his wife Rebecca Akufo‑Addo, joined a host of former senior government officials today to honour the memory of the late Nana Konadu Agyeman‑Rawlings. Among the dignitaries in attendance were the former Chief of Staff and past Ministers of Defence, Interior, Transport, and Lands.
The gathering followed the passing of the former First Lady, who died on October 23, 2025, at the age of 76. She is remembered as a tireless advocate for women’s rights and social justice, whose determination left a lasting imprint on Ghana’s democratic and social development.
In a gesture of national unity and respect, the former president and his wife visited the residence of the late Nana Konadu, where tributes were being offered. He also signed the book of condolence alongside his spouse.
Also present were several former ministers and senior officials who had served in previous administrations, reflecting the broad recognition of her contributions to the nation.
Nana Konadu’s enduring legacy as the founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and her leadership in advancing women’s empowerment remain deeply etched in Ghana’s collective memory. The turnout of political leaders and public figures underscored the significance of her lifelong work.
Notable attendees included Gabby Otchere‑Darko, founder of the Danquah Institute, and Samuel Abu Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Damongo.
