Deputy Chief of Staff Outlines Funeral Arrangements for Helicopter Crash Victims

At a press briefing held on Thursday, August 14, Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Dogbe announced that the funeral ceremony for the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash will be conducted in three phases. The programme will begin with scriptural readings from the Bible and Qur’an, proceed to the official memorial service, and conclude with the burial.

The pre-burial activities are scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. and wrap up by 9:00 a.m. Vice President is expected to arrive at 8:50 a.m., followed by President John Dramani Mahama at 9:00 a.m., who will officially commence the state service.

The three-hour event will include the presentation of life stories of all eight individuals who lost their lives in the crash. Tributes will be delivered by spouses, children, government dignitaries, and representatives from various institutions.

Following the memorial, the remains of six victims will be conveyed to the military cemetery at Tse Addo for burial. The interment will be jointly conducted by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the respective religious institutions of the deceased.

The tragic incident claimed eight lives. Two of the deceased Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna—were laid to rest on Sunday, August 10, in line with Islamic burial traditions.

The remaining six individuals to be buried on Friday, August 15, include:Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Dr. Samuel Sarpong,,Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

Mr. Dogbe appealed to members of the public to arrive promptly and adhere to the security arrangements put in place for the solemn occasion.
