The Civil Service Council, led by its Chairman, Dr. Lawrence A. Kannae, on Tuesday paid a familiarisation visit to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) as part of efforts to deepen collaboration and enhance service delivery across the public sector.
The delegation first called on the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, where discussions centered on the Ministry’s priority interventions, social protection programmes, and emerging challenges. Dr. Kannae reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to supporting Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to improve institutional effectiveness, administrative efficiency, and service delivery across the Civil Service.
Dr. Lartey expressed appreciation for the visit and outlined key initiatives being undertaken by the Ministry to support vulnerable populations. She highlighted ongoing plans to establish integrated shelters for victims of abuse nationwide, designed as “one-stop” centers providing psychosocial support, legal aid, healthcare, and other essential services in a safe environment.
During a management engagement session, the Chief Director of MoGCSP, Dr. Marian W. A. Kpakpah, emphasized the Ministry’s critical role in promoting social inclusion, protecting vulnerable groups, and advancing gender equality. The Head of Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, also encouraged officers to embrace teamwork, professionalism, and continuous learning to strengthen service delivery and effectively respond to emerging social challenges.
The visit included a presentation on the Ministry’s departments, programmes, interventions, and achievements, followed by interactive discussions on institutional performance and challenges affecting the Civil Service. Dr. Kannae commended the Ministry for its dedication to social protection and national development, underscoring the importance of discipline, accountability, and innovation in repositioning the Civil Service.
The familiarisation visit forms part of a broader initiative by the Civil Service Council to engage MDAs, better understand their operational mandates, and foster stronger collaboration. It is expected to contribute to improved policy implementation and enhanced service delivery for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
