The Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Yaako Donkor, has been received by the Ghana Military Police Command, led by Lt. Col. Jacqueline Dela Galley, in a high-level engagement aimed at strengthening investigative collaboration between the two institutions.
The meeting underscored the shared responsibility of the CID — Ghana’s lead criminal investigative body — and the Military Police, tasked with investigations within the Armed Forces, in upholding discipline, justice, and national security.
Discussions focused on alignment, expertise, and capacity-building. The CID highlighted its extensive experience in criminal investigations, forensic science, and technical mandates, as well as its operation of the country’s only Detective Training Academy, which trains investigators across law enforcement agencies. Expanding this collaboration to include the Military Police was described as a strategic step forward.
Lt. Col. Dela Galley, the first female Commanding Officer of the Ghana Military Police, was commended for her leadership, with the engagement recognizing the importance of strong leadership in shaping professional and disciplined investigative institutions.
The CID extended its hand in partnership, affirming: “Together, we strengthen investigations. Together, we protect the nation.”
The engagement signals renewed efforts to build synergy between Ghana’s civilian and military investigative bodies, reinforcing national security through shared expertise and coordinated action.
