Work is to begin on the construction of a CHPS Compound at Oyarifa Village in the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality in Accra, the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Chiefs Executive (MCE), Hon. Jennifer Dede Adjabeng has said.
The project which is the initiative of the Assembly comes after the chiefs and people of Oyarifa in the municipality released a 1 acre land to the Assembly to facilitate the project.
The project is one several health infrastructure initiatives by the Assembly to ensure access to quality healthcare services and with the National Health Insurance Scheme, boost the provision of healthcare infrastructure and financial accessibility to healthcare.
The MCE for La Nkwantanang affirmed this when she led a team from the Assembly to officially receive the land in Oyarifa in the early hours of Wednesday, 16 November, 2022.
On behalf of the government, she thanked the chiefs for putting in so much effort to make land available for the project at a time where land is scarce.
“Land in Accra is not easy to come by so if we are still getting support from our chiefs to do projects, we are grateful. So on behalf of the president, we are grateful for this and will continue to work closely with you to do more for the people”. Hon. Dede Said.
According to the MCE, funds have being secured and the contractor is ready to begin work immediately and also revealed that the Assembly is planning to build its own zonal council at the same site in the coming years.
“The plan is to ultimately bring the zonal council here. We do not currently have a zonal council for the Assembly. We are currently renting and we want to stop renting. By God’s grace we’ve reduced the rents that we have to pay for our offices. It is in our budget to put up our own office here”. She said.
She therefore pleaded for maximum support from the chief and people of Oyarifa to ensure a successful completion of the project.
For his part the Chief of Oyarifa, Nii Odzenma Mensah, thanked the Assembly and the government for listening to their call for a CHPs compound adding that the facility when completed will go a long way to improve healthcare accessibility in Oyarifa and its surrounding communities.
The project is expected to complete within six month
