Cape Coast Assembly Presents 8-Year Development Plan to Vice President

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, led by Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) George Arthur, has paid a courtesy call on Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang at her office in Accra. The delegation included Members of Parliament for Cape Coast North and Cape Coast South, who joined in extending New Year’s greetings and expressing hopes for strength and clarity as the nation continues its reset agenda.

During the meeting, the Assembly presented an ambitious eight-year development plan for the Cape Coast Metropolis. Key projects outlined in the plan include the refurbishment and eventual operation of the Evans Atta Mills Library, as well as the rehabilitation of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital. The delegation emphasized that these initiatives are aimed at revitalizing the city’s infrastructure and improving access to essential services.

Discussions also centered on strategies to make Cape Coast more vibrant and economically viable. The Assembly highlighted the role of government support alongside local fundraising activities in driving sustainable development for the metropolis.

Vice President Opoku-Agyemang commended the Assembly for its vision and urged them to involve the people of Cape Coast in decision-making processes. She stressed that community ownership of development initiatives is vital to ensuring lasting change. The Vice President further reminded the delegation that while Cape Coast’s progress is important, it must be pursued in tandem with the broader development of the nation.
