The Bank of Ghana has dismissed reports suggesting that it is considering the sale of its newly constructed headquarters, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on June 2, 2026, the Bank noted a publication by MyJoyOnline dated June 1, 2026, which alleged that the institution was exploring the sale of the $260 million facility. The Bank categorically denied the report, stressing that it is neither considering nor discussing such a move.
According to the release, the new headquarters was commissioned to support the Bank’s operations and enhance efficiency in fulfilling its statutory mandate, and therefore remains a critical asset. The Bank urged the public and media to disregard the publication, warning that unverified reports of this nature could undermine public confidence in Ghana’s financial system and create unnecessary market instability.
The statement reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement, emphasizing that all official communications are issued through its website (bog.gov.gh), verified social media handles, press statements from the Communications Department, and signed statements from the Secretary of the Bank.
The Bank further encouraged media outlets to seek clarification before publishing information relating to its operations, in order to safeguard public trust and stability in the financial sector.
