Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has provided free mattresses and chop boxes to all 2,207 first-year students entering Senior High Schools in the constituency.

The gesture, which forms part of what the MP describes as the “North Tongu tradition,” is aimed at removing financial barriers that could prevent students from accessing secondary education.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Ablakwa assured parents and students that no child in North Tongu should drop out of school due to lack of basic boarding items.

“All my beloved 2,207 fresh North Tongu SHS students don’t have to worry about buying mattresses and chop boxes — their MP has got them covered for free. Every barrier shall be removed; no one must drop out,” he said.
In addition to the personal support for students, the MP announced major infrastructural expansion works across the five Senior High Schools in the constituency. These include the construction of new mega dining halls and dormitory blocks to improve accommodation and feeding facilities.
Hon. Ablakwa noted that the interventions are part of his broader commitment to ensuring equitable access to quality education in North Tongu, adding that the tradition of supporting fresh SHS students will continue in the years ahead.
