Widow of Late MP, Hajia Amina Adam, Enters Ayawaso East Race

Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Ayawaso East MP, has officially declared her intention to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries for the constituency’s vacant parliamentary seat.

In a heartfelt statement dated 22 January 2026, Hajia Amina described the passing of her husband as the most difficult experience of her life, noting the profound impact on her family, constituents, and the wider community. She expressed gratitude for the support received and drew strength from Islamic teachings during her period of mourning.

Quoting the Qur’an (2:155–157), she emphasized patience and divine guidance, stating: “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.”

Following calls from constituents and after deep reflection, Hajia Amina announced her decision to contest the seat, pledging to continue and improve upon the selfless service and developmental vision of her late husband.

She affirmed her commitment to observing her idda, the Islamic mourning period, and assured that all campaign activities would respect religious obligations.

“My only motivation to contest is to serve my people and help transform their lives,” she stated, invoking the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who won an election while in prison in 1951.

With humility and resolve, Hajia Amina steps forward to lead Ayawaso East, promising sincere and transformative leadership under the banner of the NDC.
