NPP General Secretary Warns Against Disruption of Primaries

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has cautioned party members and the public against any attempt to disrupt the party’s presidential primaries slated for January 31, stressing that security agencies will act firmly against offenders.

Speaking at the signing of a peace pact by NPP presidential aspirants on Thursday, January 22, Mr. Kodua reaffirmed the party’s commitment to conducting the internal elections in a free, fair, and secure atmosphere across all polling centres nationwide.

“I want to use this medium to send a strong caution to any person in our party or outside our party who has any intention of discrediting or trying to mar the beauty of our democracy come January 31. Be careful, because on that day the IGP and his men will apprehend anybody who tries to cause chaos,” Mr. Kodua warned.

He also appealed to the aspirants to exercise restraint and uphold unity before, during, and after the contest. According to him, no single candidate can secure victory in the 2028 general elections without the collective support of the party, emphasizing the importance of reconciliation after the primaries.

“This contest is not a war. It is only to show whether you have the support of the party or not. When you win, you still need the support of your brothers to carry on and win the election in 2028,” he said.

Mr. Kodua assured the aspirants that the party’s leadership is ready to support all candidates and will spearhead a reconciliation process after the primaries to strengthen unity ahead of the 2028 elections.

The peace pact signing forms part of the NPP’s broader efforts to ensure peaceful internal elections and consolidate party cohesion as it prepares for the national polls.
