The Parliament of Ghana has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hon. Naser Toure Mahama, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, describing him as a dedicated public servant and a steadfast advocate for his constituents.
In a statement issued by the Director of Media Relations, Parliament noted that the nation has lost “a member whose commitment to the advancement of Ghana was unwavering.” The Speaker of Parliament, the Leadership, and the Parliamentary Service extended condolences to his family, colleagues, constituents, and all who were touched by his work and humanity.
Hon. Mahama was remembered for his diligence, integrity, and responsibility in service. His contributions to parliamentary debates, advocacy for development projects, and tireless efforts to improve the lives of his constituents were highlighted as enduring legacies. Parliament described him as embodying “the ethos of service and the spirit of philanthropy that are the hallmarks of public service.”
“This is a difficult time for Parliament and for the people of Ayawaso East,” the statement read. “We share in the pain of his family and hold them in our thoughts and prayers. May the Almighty Allah grant him eternal rest and grant his loved ones the strength to bear this loss.”
Parliament also appealed to the media and the public to respect the privacy of the bereaved family and avoid sensationalism during the period of mourning.
